Every year this stupid thing goes up in price, Im thinking that the fine for being caught unregistered is worth the risk now, Perhaps we should all start an online petition, tell the insurance companie we wont stand for this. Remember everyone that the insurance prices went through the roof because insurance payouts were going up and up and up. No that insurance payouts have been capped to some low number, our insurance premiums should have come down. Look for the Insurance Petition in your Email.
I had to buy a new greenslip for my motorbike this week. My motorbike is a Yamaha XT 600, a single cylinder trail bike.
I did a price comparison and found the results very interesting.
The cheapest greenslip price was $424.00 and the most expensive was $686.00, a difference of $262.00 or 61.8%.
As a Ulysses member I also obtained a quote from Monalnd Pty Ltd. They sell CIC Allianz greenslips to Ulysses members under a fleet arrangement. Their price for a CIC Allianz greenslip was $383.00, a further saving of $41.00. I purchased my greenslip through Monaland Pty Ltd.
Incidentally, the MCIS Levy represents 30.4% of the cost of my greenslip.
Clearly, if price is a determining factor in your greenslip purchase, it is worth the effort to do a price comparison and to understand your options.
The transport minister is lying by omission when he says greenslip prices have gone down. What is a greenslip for if it’s not to cover medical costs of road injuries.? What he’s not saying is that there is a new MCIS levy which in my case (experienced m/cycle rider in country NSW with 30 year no injuries/claims record), is adding 50% to the cost. The MCIS is a greenslip by another name, a thinly disguised lie to cover the fact that the NSW Labor govt is too gutless, corrupt and bankrupt to tackle curbing the costs of claims. Claims rise not because there are more 50% more people being injured, but because the costs are being blown out by exorbitant fees paid to lawyers and doctors, and the unlimited court awards which just encourage greedy claims and high service costs. If you are sick of paying sneaky increases in tax, vote them out next time !
Last year NRMA charged me $317.78 for my greenslip, this year the quote I received was for $392.57, thats at 23.5% increase, I called them to question it, and they told me that is their price. What a rip off!
It may be cheaper to make a move to Qld. How come up there they do not discriminate on the basis of driver age, postcode or driving record – these questions aren’t even asked. Same price for the whole of the state and much cheaper than NSW.
What ever happened to driver courtesy? Is it hard to let someone merge? Is it too much trouble to wave and acknowledge when someone does you a favour in traffic? I find it extremely frustrating when people will not let you merge. Do they never need to merge? Do they never need someone to let them into a line of traffic? Life could be much simpler. Treat other drivers with courtesy…and expect the same in return. I feel better now!
Don’t complain about green slip prices as the price hike was submitted by the Labor Gov for an increase, look at the actual tax you pay to register your car. If you want to change things as the Gov of the day intends to rip everyone off if YOU the people don’t speak up. Everyone has a winge come renewal time and just blame the insurance companies, it’s the Gov who determines how much money you receive if you make a claim and these morons tell you how much to pay while they get government cars. It seems in the new millenium we accept being ripped off and then sook about it then do nothing to make things fair. It’s time to wake up Australia!!!!
I am 29 years old and had my licence for more than 10 years with no accidents. When I went to renew my greenslip the price was $627. This was nearly double what I pain last year!!!. I was living in christchurch several years before (under 25 at the time) and paid $650 for full comprehensive insurance. The system in NSW is a joke and why are the insurance companies allowed to get away with this ??
The CTP on my motorcycle, Suzuki GS500F is due in February, so I thought I’d run a comparison of quotes before deciding on whether to stay with my current insurer, QBE, who quoted $337 for 12 months. I went into the MAA greenslip comparison site and this is what I was quoted: Insurer 6mth price 12mth price AAMI $273.00 $525.00 Allianz $196.00 $378.00 CIC-Allianz $198.00 $381.00 GIO $163.29 $313.04 NRMA $198.31 $381.92 QBE $176.00 $337.00 Zurich $267.00 $517.00 As you can see the cheapest is $313 and the most expensive $525 that’s over $200 difference. You can’t tell me that is fair!! Funny thing is, when I then got a quote for a brand new BMW K1200S motorcycle, guess what… all the quotes stayed the same apart from QBE who went up to QBE $265.00 $513.00 Something just doesn’t seem right here !
