Have you ever driven your vehicle unregistered? Even if you didn’t know you were unregistered, that’s no excuse. Luckily, there are ways to remember your rego. Did you know greenslips.com.au can send out an email reminder or a registration reminder sticker for your windscreen?
Four ways to remember your rego
In 2024-25, 42,498 people in NSW were caught driving unregistered, worth nearly $35 million in fines. Make sure you are not one of those people.
Here are 4 ways to remember your rego:
- Use Check a vehicle registration service.
- Choose digital vehicle registration.
- Ask us for an email registration reminder.
- Order a registration reminder sticker from us.
1. Use Check a vehicle registration service
Service NSW provides Check a vehicle registration for all currently registered vehicles. Put in your plate number to find out, for example:
- When registration is due
- Registration status
- Any restrictions or concessions on registration
- The green slip insurer.
You can use this free check to find out whether other vehicles are registered, for example, a used car you intend to buy.
Essential to know
- This service does not provide the name or address of the owner.
- It works only for vehicles currently registered in NSW.
2. Choose digital vehicle registration
You can choose digital vehicle registration if you have a MyServiceNSW Account. With digital vehicle registration, you receive 3 rego reminders by email and in your account:
- 6 weeks before your rego expires
- 2 weeks before your rego expires
- 1 day after it expires.
3. Ask us for an email registration reminder
If you ask us, greenslips.com.au will send out one email registration reminder:
- First use the greenslips.com.au Calculator to compare prices.
- Under your cheapest prices from each insurer, click email results.
- Click Yes, remind me when my greenslip and rego are due and enter your email address.
This reminder happens only once unless you ask us again.
4. Order a rego reminder sticker from us
Many people missed having a reminder on their windscreen when the government stopped issuing registration stickers in 2013. This is why greenslips.com.au introduced rego reminder stickers.
Our rego reminder stickers provide an easy way to remember and work on your windscreen, the fridge, noticeboards or filing cabinets. They are also easy to apply and easy to remove.
If you’d like one or more rego reminder stickers, send us your physical address and we will send your stickers.
Remember you have to buy a green slip before you can register your vehicle.
