The compulsory third party (CTP) insurance scheme was established under the Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017. It’s now time for a review of the Act to see if its goals are being met. You are invited to have your say on various aspects of the CTP scheme.
Review of the Act
The Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017 (the Act) established the NSW CTP scheme. It is mandatory and provides benefits and support to people injured or killed in a motor crash. The review will assess whether the terms of the Act are effectively meeting the goals of the Act.
The review will consider:
- Scheme effectiveness while insurers receive a fair but not excessive profit margin
- General performance of insurers
- How quickly injured people receive benefits
- What proportion of premiums collected directly benefits injured people
- Whether further changes are needed to the CTP scheme.
