Should we have zero blood alcohol while driving?

Before you drive home from the pub after a couple of drinks, you need to consider what your blood alcohol concentration (BAC) is. Alcohol was involved in 15% of fatal crashes in New South Wales during 2013-2015 and more than 20% of fatal crashes in Queensland in 2014-2015. Unfortunately, most people who die or hurt others while drink-driving are well over the legal BAC limit.

Swans and Giants work together for road safety

Usually AFL teams are competing with each other but, on this occasion, Sydney Swans and Greater Western Sydney (GWS) Giants are working together for road safety. NSW Centre for Road Safety has signed them up again to help raise awareness of mobile phone distraction and driver fatigue in NSW.

Bad driving habits to unlearn

Many drivers would agree that other drivers have annoying bad habits when behind the wheel. On any journey, whether it’s round the suburbs, a long trip interstate, or a late-night dash to the petrol station, there’s always somebody doing something stupid or dangerous on the road.

Those of us who are perfect drivers just can’t help noticing the bad habits of others.

Do you really know the road rules?

Yet it is not unusual for the driving basics to become blurry after a few years behind the wheel. As part of Road Rules Awareness Week, introduced in 2013, Transport NSW publishes a list of the top 10 most misunderstood road rules.
