Outrageous

Thanks this increase is very unreasonable. I have a 1200cc bike and my wife owns a 250cc so it costs us heaps for machines we use in the summer months. Looks as though it will be 2 greenslips you don`t sell. No thanks Laurie

1. 225cc how many of those are on the market its absurd to start at 225cc250cc should have been included in this price range its utter bshit

2. For a once a month ridden, registered 250cc trailbike I wonder what. 3rd party I'm covering with a ~ 100% increase. I'm smelling a case of stuff 'em - what are they going to do. This is just encouraging the unlicensed riders out there in the bush

3. Please explain why the price of green slips for motorcycles are so expensive. What justification is there to have such high prices for predominantly solo operated machines, isn't this an insurance to cover injury to third parties? Are motorcyclists being unfairly treated because we are a minority group and have no way of challenging or influencing the bureaucrats who make these decisions?

4. sign the petition at WSFM. Spread the word and see if we can get some action! http://www.wsfm.com.au/posts/2010/07/27/petition-against-ctp-ripoff/

5. The increase of the greenslip cost for the 250cc bikes leaves me speechless! Somehow that gives me the feeling that is a revenue rasining exercise. Not sure about the approval process which was required to get to this new clasifciations/price but somehow it seems like it is just another nail in the coffin for the current government (at least from my perspective)

6. this is insanity, there is no way australia is so hard up that we have to smash the little guys for every cent they have, why not get the SUV drivers that run over their own children in their own driveways when was the last time you heard about a motorcycle doing that ... never, or guzzle fuel like its goin out of fashion because they want to feel safe, heres an idea, learn to ride a bike and you might have a clue how to drive, dickheads ... when was the last time you heard about a motorcycle doing that ... never ,,,, crap thats what this is ...

7. this is just stupid the government is all about 'green" this and that and yet they are hitting up the most economical vehicles on the road. they should encourage people to think about swapping there V6 car and ride to work this will cut down on traffic and ease parking in the city and lower pollution. a bike will do 300k'm on adverage per tank costing about $18 to fill up when a adverage car cost about $80 to fill and in city driving will adverage 600k'm per tank. motorbikes should have the lowest green slips due to this why is Australia SO far behind the rest of the world, people who are in charge of these decisions really need to wake up to themselfs and start living in the real world. same with the RTA they charge a fortune and look at the state of our roads what a joke.

8. i understand that they are targeting inexperienced higher risk riders.ie learners..who for the most part are subjected to 250cc bikes..but why not just increse the price due to licence grade not capacity of the bike. i have spent most my motorcycling life almost 20 yrs on smaller capacity bikes which are not learner leagle anyhow..production 2 strokes, for the reason that they are cheap to buy,own tyres, rego, insurance but now this will just kill even more especially older 250s... paying rego every year which is half the cost of the bike...who voted for this..!!!! dont we live in a demoracy dont we get a say...im sure the pple makin the decisions dont ride.

9. It is unfair to increase the greenslip fee for larger bikes and is obviously just the government milking money where they can ( the same government who is \"concerned\" about green house emissions).Who says we have the higher incident rate? It is generally the larger bikes that are ridden by the older and more experienced rider who represents a lower statistic in the accident stakes yet the green slip cost has doubled. Shouldn\'t we be encouraged to ride when the roads in Sydney are so choked with traffic? Shouldn\'t we be encouraged as we take us less parking space and use less fuel?? What is wrong with this government?? It\'s not as though we ever see improvements, just more regulations and expenses...it is a joke.

10. I ride a 50cc bike to save money and the environment. My greenslip has gone from $100 to over $160. More categories to suit the bigger bikes has come at a cost to the smallest ones.

11. What has engine capacity got to do with causing injury or death to a third party? How can a motorcycle (whatever the engine capacity) possibly cause the same amount of injury/death as a car? The MAA and the insurers need to come clean and explain how these costs are calculated. As the CTP system is compulsory the goverment should be trying to keep costs as low as possible and insurance companies should be limited to a base profit from this product.

12. Its sucks, I got a honda 250 crusier for the fact of the cheap rego and economity, I just paid my car green slip the other day and looks like it will be cheaper than my bike green slip, when it comes due next year

13. It's nothing more than a money grab for the most popular cc range due to efficiency and affodability. They don't have to justify it, they are the NSW Govt Mafia. "THEY SAY, YOU PAY". I just sold my bike but due to this, unfortunately I won't be getting another one any time soon. The govt can however be reassured that I'll instead be drivng a 1.8 tonne fuel guzzling V8 behemoth and not doing the road or environment the favour I was. What I do want to know though, is why riders who also own cars, are paying for two greenslips when only one vehicle can be driven at a time!! Oh that's right, money grabbing again.

14. Anyone would have to be very cynical about the price gouging the RTA and Insurance companies are engaged in here. It looks like they have checked the engine capacity bracket people buy bike in and thought....lest slug them for all they are worth. This is not based on any percieved risk factors.

15. If the greenslip only covers third parties, then why not make a solo category for bikes like in Qld? No pillion passenger - I was once told by an insurance company that the excessive greenslip cost was to cover the potentially serious injuries a pillion may suffer. That way the only third party injury caused by the bike in a collision MUST be less than a car. It\'s supposed to be a user pays system. Stop fleecing the masses. This is a blatant rip-off

16. And it's not just the greenslip issue (which should be for the driver, 1 greenslip to that covers any vehicle they drive, like the guy said above you can only drive one at a time). Pick Slip is also an issue with expiry dates of 42 days. If the vehicle is registered with that pick slip it is valid for a year, if there is a delay of more than 42 days then it expires. This is just price gouging because the Pick Slip when it's issued and the vehicle is registered is valid for a year. When I asked why? was told there is NO why...............sick of them !!!!!!
