Boom year for Australian car sales

Our last blog, Australians love their motorbikes, failed to mention they love their cars too. 2016 has been a boom year so far for new car sales, up 3.4% higher than last year. This is the best half-year result ever for the new car industry in Australia.

Australians love their motorbikes

If you’re thinking of buying a motorbike to get around, you’re not the only one. The fastest growth in any kind of vehicle registration was for motorbikes, up 22% between 2010 and 2015. As of 2015, there were 800,000 motor cycles in Australia and 28% of those were registered in NSW.

Pricier green slips for people who drive a lot

Taxi drivers are used to paying around $7,800 for a green slip, compared to private motorists, who pay around $700. Since Uber and GoCatch entered the “point-to-point” market, private motorists pay the lower price while using their cars for ridesharing.
